Detection of sequences related to biosynthesis of antifungal metabolites and identification of a PhzF-like gene in a Pseudomonas rhizobacterium of Piper tuberculatum

Authors: O.S. Silva Jr., N.L.F. Barros, A.S. Siqueira, E.C. Gon§alves, D. N. Marques, S.P. Reis, and C.R.B. Souza

Our previous studies identified a Pseudomonas putida (Pt12 isolate) associated with roots of Piper tuberculatum Jacq., a Piperaceae occurring in the Amazon region with known resistance to infection by Fusarium solani f. sp. piperis, the causal agent of root rot disease in black pepper (Piper nigrum L.). This Pt12 isolate was a.. Read More»

Endophytic bacteria from Piper tuberculatum Jacq.: isolation, molecular characterization, and in vitro screening for the control of Fusarium solani f. sp piperis, the causal agent of root rot disease in black pepper (Piper nigrum L.)

Authors: S.B. Nascimento, A.M. Lima, B.N. Borges and C.R.B. de Souza

Endophytic bacteria have been found to colonize internal tissues in many different plants, where they can have several beneficial effects, including defense against pathogens. In this study, we aimed to identify endophytic bacteria associated with roots of the tropical piperaceae Piper tuberculatum, which is known for itsresistance to infection by Fusariu.. Read More»

Genetic diversity in the germplasm of black pepper determined by EST-SSR markers

Authors: B.D. Wu, R. Fan, L.S. Hu, H.S. Wu and C.Y. Hao

This study aimed to assess genetic diversity in the germplasm of black pepper from around the world using SSR markers from EST. In total, 13 markers were selected and successfully amplified the target loci across the black pepper germplasm. All the EST-SSR markers showed high levels of polymorphisms with an average polymorphis.. Read More»
